Important Warnings

Help others make informed decisions by reporting important property and neighborhood warnings

This page is where Secrets.RealEstate began. Before the scores and the data, there was a personal story: trouble with a landlord that someone before me could have warned me about. There was just no place to leave that warning — so I built one. If you know something about a property, a building or a neighborhood that the next person should hear before they commit, leave it here: planned construction, safety problems, legal trouble. You can do it anonymously, and it may spare someone exactly what it would have spared me.

Why a warning matters

A listing shows you the price, the photos and the floor plan. It rarely shows you the crane going up next door, the road that floods every spring, or the neighbour dispute that never reached the paperwork. Those are the things that decide what a home is actually like to live in, and they almost never surface until after the keys have changed hands. One honest warning, left in time, can spare the next buyer months of regret.

What you can report

You do not need proof or legal certainty. If you have seen it or lived it, it is worth writing down. Most reports fall into a handful of kinds:

  • Planned construction or development that will change the view, the light or the noise
  • Environmental risks such as flooding, subsidence, contamination or persistent pollution
  • Neighbourhood safety, from repeated break-ins to ongoing drug activity
  • Infrastructure and utility problems that a listing quietly leaves out
  • Legal, zoning or administrative issues still working their way through

How your report is handled

You decide whether to leave your name. Anonymous reports carry exactly the same weight, and we never reveal who filed one. Every submission gets a reference number, so you can follow it up later. We read what comes in before it informs anyone, which keeps a warning what it should be: a reason to look closer, never an accusation.
